Across Lake Mjøsa

For most of his life, former footballer Petter Martinsen has lived with type 1 diabetes. Living with diabetes can present many challenges in everyday life, but Petter has managed to combine the condition with a career as a top-level footballer in Norway.

In the summer of 2021, Petter Martinsen, also known as "DiabetesPetter", swam the length of Lake Mjøsa to raise money for the Norwegian Diabetes Association. The extremely demanding challenge took 11 days to complete, raising a total of NOK 80,800 for the organisation.

Petter's main goal with the swim was to show others living with diabetes that it is possible to push the body to its limits despite the condition.

Produced Spring 2022.
